Hi Everyone! Its time for another series of empties posts. All items were purchased by me, and as before, there will be posts for skin care, hair care, bath & body, makeup, and miscellaneous for deluxe sample size and larger packaging. If I’ve talked about it before, I’ll try to remember to link the post below. Enjoy and thanks for reading!
Kueshi Pure & Clean Revitalizing Face Toner – I received this in a Glossybox and was excited to try it out. While this smelled quite nice and left my skin feeling soft, it didn’t take off any residual makeup. If you are looking for a very gentle toner strictly to rebalance your skin, you may want to give this a shot. For me, I wouldn’t repurchase.
restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream – I received this in an Allure Beauty Box (when it was still Sample Society), and was excited to get a full size eye cream to try out. While this eye cream works well enough, I’m still looking for something that will completely WOW me. Let me know if you have any recommendations. 🙂
Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner – I received this as part of this past Beautylish Natural Lucky Bag. I love it! It really is a great toner – I love the way it smells, how it takes off residual makeup, and how my skins feels after using it. The only thing I didn’t really like was the price. While I would consider repurchasing this product as a splurge, I’ve been using Bioderma CleansingWater as a post-cleansing toner and that works rather nicely, too.
Shiseido IBUKI Gentle Cleanser – Another subscription box item, this came in my monthly Birchbox subscription. I used Shiseido products a long time ago, but I think I was using a different line. This product was fantastic – you don’t need much, but it foams up nicely and gently takes off anything left behind after using your favorite makeup remover. I have some other products that I need to finish up first, but this is definitely an item that I will be purchasing in the future.
Vichy Pureté Thermale 3-in-1 One Step Cleanser – This product is supposed to act as a cleansing milk, toner, and eye make-up remover. I received it in a Glossybox and was intrigued to try it out. Unfortunately, for me it just acts as a toner. It was ineffective as a stand alone cleansing milk or make-up remover – my face was a hot mess! However, it was very effective using it after removing makeup and washing my face to rebalance my skin and remove any residual makeup. If I repurchase this, it would be to use it as a toner.
Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic – I received this in a recent Allure Beauty Box, and you can definitely tell that there is glycolic acid in this product (but no alcohol). There is a mild burning sensation (please, avoid your eye area if you use this), and the skin looks nice. However, I think I prefer to use an exfoliating scrub and a balancing toner.
Clearista Retexturizing Gel™ – This product is supposed to combine the benefits of a serum, moisturizer, and scrub into one. I received it in a Glossybox and was definitely interested to try it out. I didn’t have any issues using the product, but I’m not really sure that it did anything noticeable. It might have been better for me if I had used it as a mask as recommended on their website (see link).
Jouer Daily Repair Treatment Oil – Another item that was sampled through Birchbox, and one that I was uncertain about before trying. However aside from some mild stinging/tingling, the oil worked really well. The stinging/tingling effect did diminish over time with daily use, and my skin looked great. I have a skin oil that I like very much so I’m not sure that I will repurchase this anytime soon, but I will certainly add it to the list.
Kaplan MD Cellular Rejuvenating Concentrate – This was from a recent Allure Beauty Box. According to the manufacturer, you should be able to see results in as little as 2 weeks, but unfortunately, the sample was too small to last for that long. It is a very pricey product but I can’t decide whether to repurchase based on my current experience.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream – This is a lightweight and lightly scented face cream. I used it in the morning (but not at night), and it absorbed quickly and kept my face hydrated throughout the day. I would definitely repurchase this, but have no plans to do so at the moment as I have other products to use up first.
tarte Maracuja Neck Treatment – This product was a disappointment to me. 😦 I used the product twice a day everyday hoping to see some notable difference, but no…it was not to be. For me, I could have use a heavier moisturizer on my neck and décolletage and that would have had the same effect. I’m still looking for a wonderful neck cream. Please, any recommendations would be welcome.
Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Vitamin C+ Serum – This is pricey, but it works really well for me. I first had a deluxe sample and then purchased this bottle. I’m on my second full size bottle of this stuff; however, I know its expensive. Two suggestions: 1. wait until Sephora has a sale or 2. sign up on the Algenist website and wait for a coupon code or a special offer, i.e. they just had a Friends & Family sale that offered 30% off on your purchase.
Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer – From a Birchbox over the summer, it was an unexpected find. It left my skin smooth and plump and dewy, without looking greasy. I actually really liked this product and will consider purchasing it once I finish up some other moisturizers.
Benefit Dream Screen – I was looking for a replacement product for my no longer available favorite facial sunscreen, and stumbled upon this one. It does what it says, and its nice that it doesn’t leave a white cast to the skin. However, it didn’t absorb as well into my skin as I would have liked. I’m still on the look out – send suggestions my way!
Fresh Soy Face Exfoliant – While I really like the Fresh lip products, I haven’t had much success with their skin care. Unfortunately, this was no exception. It just didn’t do anything for me, and I have no plans on repurchasing.
