August 2016 Favorites

Hi everyone!  It’s been a while…but I’m back!  I’m planning on having more structured content, starting with monthly favorites. Towards the end of each month, I’ll post each of my favorites for these five categories: reader, foodie, traveler, runner, and makeup junkie. A favorite will be something that enhances my appreciation for that category, and can be anything, from an item to technology.

Reader Does your library have an eBook collection?  My library uses the app OverDrive to allow readers to check out eBooks and audio books – it’s so easy to use!  If you have access to multiple libraries that use OverDrive, all of your checkouts appear together.  The best thing? You don’t have to worry about late fines – the books expire at the end of their lending period.

Foodie Figs. I love fresh figs, and am so excited to enjoy fig season.  I love them plain, with goat cheese and a balsamic vinegar reduction, or any which way. I usually get mine either at Trader Joe’s or a farmer’s market.

Traveler A couple of months ago, I purchased this Mini Compact Portable Power Bank for charging on the go.  You guys – it’s incredible! It holds its charge for a long while, and you can use it several times before recharging the unit. I’ve charged my phone, my Kindle, my Fitbit, other people’s phones, etc…pretty much anything with a USB charger.

Runner I’m training for a full marathon this fall, and I’ve been plagued with weird things happening to my body. So, I run on the road for my long run and maybe a shorter run each week.  The rest of the time? Pool (Aqua) running. Essentially you use a pool belt to allow you to remain buoyant in the deep end of the pool (your feet should not touch the ground), keep your form, and run your heart out. I bought my pool belt at Tuesday Morning; my friend bought this one online.

Makeup Junkie Its so hard to pick just one! There are definitely days where I didn’t wear makeup in fear that it would melt off my face, but when I did, I reached for my original Urban Decay  Naked palette a lot of the time. I’ve been in the mood for dark, chocolate smokey eyes, and the Naked palette has been my go to for creating this eye look.

Those are my favorites – what have you been enjoying this month?
